Bruce Barth, Anat Cohen & Steve Wilson

BARTH/COHEN/WILSON TRIO

What a way to conclude “We Always Swing”® Jazz Series Season #27!

This special event & fundraiser features a triumvirate of three of the Jazz Series' long-time musical friends: PIANIST BRUCE BARTH & MULTI-INSTRUMENTALISTS ANAT COHEN & STEVE WILSON.  On Sunday, June 26, the three artists will make a rare stage-sharing performance in support of the Jazz Series. It’s only the second time Barth, Cohen and Wilson have done so, having performed for the first time the previous night for the Northwest Arkansas Jazz Society in Fayetteville.

Each of the three seasoned, highly respected musicians have made multiple Jazz Series appearances, doing so either leading their own ensembles or appearing in support of colleagues’ groups. Pianist Barth’s numerous Jazz Series appearances even include a pair of “House Concerts.” On one occasion in a duet format he and clarinetist/saxophonist Cohen performed together; on a separate occasion, the pianist exchanged musical ideas with saxophonist/flutist Wilson. The latter engagement resulted in a CD, HOME: Live In Columbia, Missouri (WASJS-1002). Released 12 years ago, the three-way co-produced collaboration between the Jazz Series and the two musicians received national distribution, and several high-profile positive reviews in such outlets as All About Jazz.

The upcoming June 26 special event, which also serves as a major Jazz Series fundraising initiative, has the three highly respected musicians preparing new material for the occasion. It’s an event that should not be missed.

The concert takes place in the acoustically excellent Sheryl Crow Hall, located in the Sinquefield Music Center on the MU campus. Opened in 2020. the recital hall is an intimate space; attandance for the special event is limited to 120 people - and, at this juncture, tickets are selling rapidly.
